Franklin County Common Pleas Court

Description

All adult felonies committed in Franklin County are assigned in the Common Pleas Court after an indictment or information is filed. Before indictment, an adult felony may be in the Municipal Court briefly for a bond hearing. Criminal cases are heard on the 3rd to 7th floor of the courthouse.

A case in the Franklin County Common Pleas Court begins with a first court date, called an arraignment. Depending on the charge, a Defendant will either receive a summons to court or be arrested and transported to court by the county. At this first court date, the Defendant enters a "guilty" or "not guilty" plea.
