About National Security Law Firm

Brett O’Brien specializes in security clearance appeals.  He has dedicated his career to learning the entire security clearance process from start to finish.  He started his journey by working for the federal government before entering private practice.  His extensive experience working for the federal government includes over eight years advising clients on revoking and suspending an employee’s security clearance, reporting derogatory information, representing clients in their response to a Statement of Reasons (SOR), and using his Army Reserve duty to support the Defense Office of Hearings and Appeals (DOHA).  His work at the DOHA allowed him to learn the inner-workings of the Agency responsible for representing the Department of Defense Central Adjudicative Facility (DoD CAF). All of these experiences provided him a unique advantage over other attorneys and firms who practice in the security clearance niche.

A Lawyer that is not only very knowledgeable but cares about his clients

Mr. Marrone is an expert and one of the best lawyers in military judicial law.. hands down. He spent countless hours and preparation in our son’s case. It was very reassuring to know that he was there to represent not only our son, but our family. His professionalism and detailed analysis of events related to the case exposed the inadequacy and lack of integrity in which our case was handled. We highly recommend Mr. Marrone, he truly cares about his clients and puts in the work to get the best possible outcome for them.

Answered the call

Just got off the phone with Mr. O’Brien after a “Hail Mary” dial. I’ve been told my security clearance is suspended and thought I would be able to clear it up myself. I was wrong- lesson learned! I will definitely be requesting your help in the future. I WILL be calling you all back in a few months to proactively attack my future clearance needs. Thanks again for being there for me and the encouragement, you’ll be hearing from me soon.

Great Attorney

Brett expertly guided me through a very challenging experience, being denied into Global Entry. He was a great advocate and achieved the results I had hoped for. He was very helpful, supportive, and sensitive. If you're in a similar situation, Brett is a great choice.

Highly Recommended

Mr. O'Brien was very helpful and responsive to all my questions and concerns. After much research and attempting to make contact with alternative attorneys, his firm answered my request for representation almost immediately. I had just discovered that I had negative issues with my secret clearance. I was lost for direction and the job that I was employed to for years. Mr. O'Brien immediately took on my concern after I shared with him all information needed. He worked with me every step of the way until he had a writeup that was able to be handed over for the review of my case. I would say his positive communication tactics were the ones that led to a reversal of my clearance which was done in a timely manner. Mr. O'brient does not rush to finish assignments but is very diligent and careful of what he would tell me and advise the way forward. Excellent job Mr. O'Brien and you will be recommended to the DOS/DOD contract communities.

Professional Lawyer

What prompted me to write this review for Mr. Obrien is his professionalism, honesty and clarity in explaining and understanding the process. I also appreciated his accessibility as he always returned my calls and answered my questions in a timely manner. He was authentic and didn’t promise things he could not deliver. I felt that he gave my case all his best and that is what mattered the most to me. There are many attorneys out there that will promise you the impossible, but Mr. O’Brien is not one of them. Mr. O’Brien helped me get through a last minute decision before my hearing. He worked around the clock with me to get the necessary information and documents before my hearing date. He is knowledgeable and available when needed. Regardless of the outcome of my hearing, I can say that I had a positive experience with Mr. O’Brien and will recommend him to friends and family.
