SUSPECT GETS AWAY AFTER COLLIDING WITH A PATROL VEHICLE

In a recent article by The Sun, a Deputy Sheriff was injured in a hit-and-run collision. On Sunday February 25, 2018, at about 2:30 a.m., a deputy was driving southbound on Mariposa Road in Victorville when he entered the intersection of Nisqualli Road.  As he entered the intersection, his patrol vehicle was struck by a pickup truck travelling westbound. After the collision, the truck sped off but was described as a late-model four-door Chevrolet Silverado, black or dark in color and probably containing some signs of collision to the front passenger side. The deputy was taken to a local hospital to be examination and was later released. Authorities are asking for anyone who knows the whereabouts of the suspect to come forward with any information they may have.

Though the driver involved in the collision above was not identified or apprehended, we can only hope that if we were to find ourselves in a similar incident, the suspect would be taken off the road so they could no longer harm other innocent drivers or pedestrians. When we begin our day head for work, the grocery store, or to pick up our kids from school, we do not expect to be caught in an incident like the one described above. However, they do happen much more often than we would like. Whether it be unintentional or caused by intoxication, traffic collisions happen every day. The unpredictability of accidents is particular disturbing.

Always make sure to buckle up, put away your cell phones and stay sober when driving. Risking lives is never worth one irresponsible decision. For drivers who always follow the rules and are precautious on the road, they are investing their efforts in keeping us safe. Regardless of how safe you are, however, the actions other drivers can make accidents unavoidable.

When accidents happen in California the DMV is notified and often moves to suspend or revoke the responsible party’s license. There are various reasons the DMV can suspend or revoke a driving privilege.   Some of the more common reasons for the DMV to take an enforcement action against a driver include DUI, negligent driving, or incident related to the person’s physical or mental fitness to drive. The DMV can automatically suspend the responsible driver’s license and it will be up to the driver to request and schedule a hearing to fight for their privilege to drive. It is in the best interest of the accused driver to hire a knowledgeable team of DMV Experts who can help defend their case. It is much harder prepare and win a case without an experienced team that knows the system and can and beat the DMV at its own game. If you or anyone you may know is in a similar situation, find a professional and skilled team to take on your case and help you navigate through the process.

In the situation above, if the fleeing driver was ever to be apprehended and charged, he would have the right to hire an expert team to take on his case and ensure the best possible outcome.
