Republican State Lawmaker Injured in Austin Car Crash

Posted By Colley Firm, PC

You just never know how serious things can get when you are in a car crash. Representative Mark Keough, a Republican state lawmaker from the Houston area, was injured in a car crash on his way to the state capitol. Immediately following the accident, Keough was transported to St. David Hospital in south Austin. While it was said he suffered no head trauma, Keough woke up unable to remember what led to the crash or what he was even doing that morning prior to the accident.

No Serious Injuries, but Difficulty Remembering

It did not take long before Keough awoke. He remained in stable condition and was not badly injured. There were no broken bones to note and no severe trauma to the head, which was a major positive in the situation. His fellow Republican, Representative Charlie Geren of Fort Worth, made an announcement on the House floor that Keough was doing fine, but having difficulty remembering what had happened. He would most likely be hospitalized and unable to return to work for a few days or longer.

A message was posted to Keough’s Facebook page, Mark Keough for Texas. The post asked for the community to keep the representative in their thoughts and prayers and was signed by his family and staff. He represents District 15, which includes the southern section of Montgomery County. The incident occurred on March 28, 2017, but the representative was released just two days later on the morning of the thirtieth.

He immediately posted to his Facebook page, thanking everyone for the continued prayers and support and indicated that he was heading home. He included a picture of himself in a wheelchair giving a thumbs up.
