Funeral and Burial Expenses

The first component of your death benefits will be coverage of your loved one’s funeral and burial expenses. The insurance company or employer will be responsible for covering funeral and burial costs of up to $10,000.

Death Benefits

In addition to having the funeral and burial expenses covered, you’ll be entitled to weekly death benefit payments of approximately two-thirds of your deceased family member’s average weekly earnings for a as long as 500 weeks.

For surviving spouses who are unable to support themselves due to a physical or mental disability, death benefits can be paid for the rest of their lives or until they remarry. Additionally, minor children will be entitled to the same death benefit payments until they reach the age of eighteen.
