On Monday, September 25th, just before 11am, a multi car accident occurred on the 210 freeway before Day Creek Blvd. Due to the severity of the pileup; all lanes were shut down for more than 2 hours. As the California Highway Patrol was attempting to re-route traffic, it was reported that motorist were attempting to take the ease of traffic into their own hands by driving on shoulders and the wrong way on roads to remove themselves from the congestion.

Her article also noted the total number of cars involved was 6, of which the fourth car, driven by a Colton resident resulted in a traffic fatality. It was reported that he failed to wear a seat belt which resulted in the him being thrown into the rear of his vehicle and suffering life ending head trauma.
As the Inland Empire sees an increase in economic growth & population it is expected that the roadways and freeways we travel everyday will begin to slow down. This is especially true for busy intersections that serve as popular routes to major shopping venues, as well as densely populated housing tracts just under and north of the 210 freeway. It is important to stay aware of surroundings as well as follow basic traffic laws, especially wearing your seat belt, which did have a major impact in this accident. While not all accidents can be avoided, many can be avoided by reducing speeds in traffic, paying attention to nearby drivers and staying calm in stressful situations like traffic.
